Creative Ways to Take Daily Essential Nutrients Unflavored Powder

Our new unflavored powder mixes easily into juices and flavored milks. For ideas, see our user-submitted recipes below.

Dissolves Easily

Milk or Juice

DEN Unflavored Powder is not meant to be a stand-alone product, so the taste experience is defined primarily by the beverage it is dissolved in.

DIRECTIONS:

Blend at least a cup of one of the following liquids with one scoop of Daily Essential Nutrients powder, three times per day.

TASTES BEST IN:

Orange juice, pineapple juice, strawberry-kiwi juice, grape juice, strawberry-banana smoothie, very berry smoothie, original soy milk, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, or organic coffee creamer.

DOESN’T MIX WELL IN:

Dairy milk, water, apple juice, sweetened vanilla soymilk.

NOTE:

Dissolving in hot beverages (e.g. tea, coffee, hot chocolate) as well as adding to recipes for cooking may accelerate degradation and diminish the potency of several of the vitamins and is not recommended.

Quick Mixes

Pudding

Mix-In Ideas

It is important not to cook the nutrients, so they stay active. But mixing a few open caps (or powder) into soft foods or drinks can be an easy way to get kids to take it and help mask the taste. Here are some “Mix-Ins” our customers add DEN to:

DIRECTIONS:

Blend these ingredients with 1 scoop of Daily Essential Nutrients powder:

Options:

-Applesauce with cinnamon and a little creamer or milk.

-Pudding – Sugar free or homemade. Can be made with dairy-free milk.

-For a sweeter treat, mix into ice cream or a milk shake. You can use dairy free, sugar free ice cream and organic sweetener.

-Mix 1 cap into pre-cooked meals throughout the day. Some parents have found this works on younger children with potato salad, macaroni salad, egg salad, chicken salad, etc.

-Mix 1 scoop of powder or 4 capsules into a spoonful of peanut butter, nutella, or honey. This is a fan favorite.

With a Straw

Drink Mixers

Daily Essential Nutrients can be mixed into certain drinks for easier consumption.

Try Daily Essential Nutrients

Many people report dramatic results within two to three weeks.

DIRECTIONS:

Blend these ingredients with 1 scoop of Daily Essential Nutrients powder:

OPTIONS:

-Flavored milk

-Orange juice

-Apple juice

-Pre-prepared Smoothies

NOTE:

Many parents have had more success with children taking highly concentrated, smaller amounts of liquid for a “shot” of DEN, with a “chaser” of milk or juice (or water) afterwards. For instance, 1.5 scoops in 2-4 ounces of chocolate milk or vanilla almond milk twice a day will get you the full dose requirement. Some parents have also reported that using a large medicinal oral liquid syringe works well for more dependent children.

How To

Need Help Swallowing Capsules?

This incredibly helpful video shows how Dr. Bonnie Kaplan of University of Calgary has been successful in teaching children (and adults) how to swallow capsules.

Daily Essential Nutrients is available in both powder and capsule forms.

This training video focuses on swallowing capsules or pills and was developed by Professor Bonnie Kaplan, in conjunction with the University of Calgary and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute.

Over the last five years Dr. Bonnie Kaplan and her students have developed and tested a new method for teaching pill swallowing.

Many parents know that taking capsules or pills can be a real nightmare for some children. Even many adults have trouble swallowing medication. Difficulty in swallowing capsules or tablets can have huge implications for a child’s health and for a family stress level, especially in families already challenged by life-threatening illnesses. The added problem of getting the life-saving treatment into their child represents an enormous emotional burden.
